Everything you need to know about this VR digitalisation initiative by the Malaysian Timber Council, and how timber companies have used their virtual tours for their showrooms and factories.

What is TimbeReality?

TimbeReality is a 360° virtual gallery for Malaysian timber and furniture products. Introduced in 2021 by the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC), it connects buyers from around the world to high-quality Malaysian timber product manufacturers.

As the nation's first virtual-reality powered furniture and timber products mall, TimbeReality aims to to encourage the timber industry to move towards digitalisation.

What is In TimbeReality?

The first area you see is the main lobby, where the About and Contact information, Directory, Floor Plan, and Featured Products can be accessed.

Next to this main tower is Tower II. Here you can see the Auditorium and Webinar Hall, where online events can take place.

The TIMB3R Gallery hosts all the prototypes created by different companies under the TIMB3R Design Incubator Programme.

On the other floors, you can see many showrooms by different factories. When clicked, you would enter their virtual tours for showroom and factories (either made using 360 photos or 3D renders). It includes e-commerce features.

Who Can Join TimbeReality?

TimbeReality is open to MTC members belonging in any of the six Timber Associations:

a. Malaysia Wood Industries Association (MWIA)
b. The Timber Exporters’ Association of Malaysia (TEAM)
c. Malaysian Panel-Products Manufacturers’ Association (MPMA)
d. Malaysian Wood Moulding & Joinery Council (MWMJC)
e. Malaysian Furniture Council (MFC)
f. Association of Malaysian Bumiputra Timber & Furniture Entrepreneurs (PEKA).

The Company's products must be made or finished in Malaysia, with a 30% timber content for furniture and 70% timber content for other products. Check out the other criteria here.

How Have Timber Companies Used Their Virtual Showrooms and Virtual Factories?

i) They display the virtual showrooms and virtual factories on their websites, making it easier for customers to view their products, services, and factory processes.

ii) They use it to run online factory site visits for business opportunities or educational programmes for students. This saves the cost of travelling, while reducing the need to stop operations or clean up multiple times.

iii) They showcase it at trade fairs and furniture exhibitions, such as Malaysian Wood Expo, Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF), Export Furniture Expo (EFE), Suzhou Furniture Exhibition, World of Wood Convention, Archidex and more.

How Does MTC Promote TimbeReality?

MTC brings it to local and international trades shows to encourage stakeholders to explore the companies in TimbeReality.
